Honeywell Sportsman Club
Varmint Rifle Fun Shoot
Saturday Morning, February 29|
Out in the desert. See directions and map below.
All targets will be reactive, and at unknown distances, simulating a real varmint shoot.
We will take one shot each, and score every shot.
No FMJ or tracer ammo is allowed, and no caliber above 7mm Mag!
Bring your most-accurate centerfire rifle(s), at least fifty (50) rounds of
ammunition, eye and ear protection, a chair, and your own refreshments. Shade
is your option. Binoculars are a ‘must bring’ as well. Be there early enough
to have your setup done and begin firing at 8:00 AM. The event will end no
later than 11:00 AM.
Since the location is in the desert, you need to also bring your own bench,
or bi-pod, or at least cross-sticks. There may be a few extra benches or tables,
but the supply is limited. Sharing a shooting bench has worked well in real
varmint environments, and we may do it for this event. It allows the guns to cool
Entry Fee is $1.00 Per Person, Juniors - Free
No prizes awarded,
Bring your own refreshments.
Directions: Go north on I-17 to the Table Mesa exit (exit 236).
Cross back over the freeway heading west. Just past the frontage road
which heads north is a minor road with a wire gate across it. Go
through the wire gate and the road will loop around heading south.
Follow the road south for about ¾ mile to where it meets the pipeline
swath (GPS coordinates N33º 57.472’ W112º 08.351’). Then continue
west on the jeep road for 1.6 more miles to a large open area
(GPS coordinates N33° 57.098' W112° 9.733'). A high
clearance vehicle is needed.
